Our Story
We’re proud to be a small, independent, Galway owned Hostel.
We’ve been welcoming guests and meeting travellers in our Galway city Centre Hostel since 1991! We were one of the very first few hostels in Galway City and we’ve been evolving ever since.
Despite our start in the city we are keen hill-walkers and have always loved getting out to Connemara, so are delighted to have opened our second hostel at the base of Ben Lettery.
We’ve grown over the years and have a range of accommodation options & properties (and WIFI) however the one thing that has never changed for us is our vibe. Be Helpful, Be Nice. People love staying with us, become friends and come back again and again.

Cathal
BL Crew
When not chatting to guests or knocking up excel spreadsheets, Cathal can be found walking in the hills of Connemara. A Galway native ask him anything you want to know; the best coffee & walking routes are his speciality.
Roni
BL Crew
Roni can often be found splashing in the sea at Galway Bay or soaking up a music session in a cosy corner.
An itchy foot-ed explorer, Roni is going to NEED to hear all about your day, especially while she’s tucked behind the desk – where did you go, and most importantly, what did you eat?
She loves sharing her favourite spots – so be sure to ask her for her Galway tips.
Mario
BL Crew
The latest addition to our BL Crew! Mario originally hails from over east, but he’s a wesht coasht man through and through now!
He’s the man who does it all – catch him breezing through en evening of check-ins, mixing up some brown bread for your brekky, or out in the yard befriending baby lambs!
Mario is like a walking encyclopaedia, ask him anything… literally anything! But particualry, his secret sunset locations or picture-perfect walking trails.
Galway Mountain Rescue
We have partnered with Galway Mountain Rescue Team who are a voluntary organisation providing a 112/999 emergency response service to the upland and remote areas of counties Galway and Clare.
We give 50% of the proceeds from every towel hired at Ben Lettery Hostel, as well as taking part in local events to raise money and awareness.
